    About five years ago, my mother was diagnosed with lupus. I will never forget the life altering moment of not only hearing such news, but also seeing the faces of my loved ones. Everyone had an utter look of defeat and pure devastation. Looking back, the feeling of fear is what paralyzed us because we didn’t know what we were up against. ‘Lupus’ was unleashed and allowed free to roam into our lives.  Not one of us knew what that meant, or how it would affect every single day for the rest of our lives.
